HonorVet Technologies is seeking a LPN / LVN Correctional for a travel job in Milan, New Mexico.

Job Description & Requirements

• Shift: 12 hours, nights

Duties:

• Perform basic nursing duties, including execution of physician orders.
• Operate pill call and sick call; assist physicians during examinations and treatments.
• Conduct technical and clinical procedures within the scope of LPN licensure.
• Assist in the professional management of the facility’s medical department.
• Apply appropriate nursing skills in the care and treatment of inmates/residents.
• Prepare for and attend sick calls with the physician; set up examining room and equipment.
• Dispense medications and document as per policy.
• Control and inventory medications, syringes, and medical supplies.
• Perform emergency procedures when necessary.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work areas.
• Complete documentation and medical file entries per policy.

Skills:

• Assist supervisor in evaluating the provision of medical services and reducing duplication.
• Maintain confidentiality of all medical records.
• Monitor potential catastrophic illnesses and audit pharmacy use for formulary adherence.
• Comply with pharmacy regulations and laws.
• Observe and document inmate/resident behavior.
• Inspect medical units for contraband; securely manage supplies and equipment.
• Prepare and maintain various reports and logs using proper grammar and procedures.
• Interpret and process medical/legal documents and procedures.
• Respond to legal cases (via corporate counsel); attend hearings; conduct chart reviews.
• Communicate effectively with staff, inmates/residents, and the public with professionalism and judgment.
• Recommend and evaluate physical safety requirements for staff and patients.
• Support accreditation efforts (NCCHC/ACA/JCAHO) by maintaining efficiency and compliance.
• Prepare safety and incident reports; respond appropriately to emergencies and unusual incidents.
• Escort inmates/residents for medical treatments.
• Conduct investigations and gather evidence as needed.
• Work in confined spaces, rotating shifts; check physical security of facility areas.
• Manage hostile environments and respond to verbal abuse professionally.
• Perform rescue and emergency aid during incidents or disasters.
• Diffuse potentially disruptive situations with appropriate action.
• Maintain effective interpersonal relationships and handle challenging interactions.

Education:

• Graduate of an approved nursing school with a certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Must be licensed in the state of employment.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
