HOST/ESS The Host/ess sets the tone for guests as they enter our restaurants, providing friendly, individualized attention towards each patron, efficiently seat guests and accommodate any special requests.
Host/ess Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties as assigned
• Greets all guests as they come in or call into the restaurant, focusing on individual, friendly service, anticipating and accommodating all needs of the guest.
• Strategically plots reservations, and appropriately accommodates walk-ins to ensure a smooth shift; gives location of and directions to restaurant as needed, refers requests for special parties and accommodations to appropriate supervisor.
• Ensures all appropriate menus are printed and ready for service; menu books are organized and filled with current menus
• Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring accurate charges, returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.
• Helps dining room staff by setting and clearing tables; replenishing water; serving beverages.
• Improves general cleanliness and orderliness of the entrance area and dining room.
• Maintains or exceeds standards of personal appearance, grooming, cleanliness, and hygiene. This includes wearing proper uniform at all times while working.
• Protects establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol control policies.
• All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Host/ess Qualifications and Skills: The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Regularly stand and walk for eight to ten hours; climb sets of stairs repetitively throughout shift; occasionally required to sit, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Consistently reach shoulder level, above head and below waist; push, pull, lift and carry five (5) pounds including up flights of stairs, occasionally lift excess of twenty-five (25) pounds.
• Must be able to work in environmental exposure to low or high volume noise, cold, heat, water, and cleaning materials.
• Passible understanding of English Language, writing skills and basic mathematics.
