Job Description
We are seeking a credentialed and experienced Enrolled Agent to join our growing team. This role includes preparing a wide range of tax returns, representing clients before the IRS, and conducting tax strategy meetings that deliver real value. You'll work with individuals, businesses, trusts, estates, and non-profits, guiding them through compliance and proactively reducing their tax liability.
This is a client-facing, solution-driven position for someone who thrives on accuracy, communication, and strategy.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Tax Preparation & Compliance
Prepare and review federal and state tax returns including:
Individuals (1040)
Partnerships (1065)
S-Corporations and C-Corporations (1120S/1120)
Trusts & Estates (1041)
Non-Profits (990 series)
Identify tax-saving opportunities during return prep and document recommendations.
Prepare amended returns and handle carrybacks and adjustments when needed.
Ensure accurate and timely filing using Drake Tax Software .
Maintain detailed records and follow internal quality control standards.
2. IRS Representation & Tax Resolution
Represent clients before the IRS and state agencies for audits, notices, collections, and appeals.
File Power of Attorney and CAF documents.
Prepare responses to IRS letters, negotiate installment agreements, request penalty abatement, and submit Offers in Compromise.
Track case status and keep clients informed at every stage.
3. Tax Strategy & Client Advisory
Lead tax strategy sessions with clients to identify forward-looking opportunities.
Advise on entity structure, retirement planning, income shifting, deductions, and timing strategies.
Collaborate with the internal team to implement tax plans and ensure clients stay on track.
Document strategies and action items clearly in Financial Cents client portal.
4. Client Relationship Management
Build strong relationships with individuals, small business owners, and families.
Communicate complex tax issues in a clear and approachable manner.
Ensure timely response to client requests via email, phone, or portal.
Maintain professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality at all times.

Client Portal & Workflow: Financial Cents
Office Productivity: Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
IRS Tools: e-Services, CAF, Transcript Delivery
Accounting Tools: QuickBooks (Online and Desktop familiarity preferred)
Skills & Competencies
Required
Active Enrolled Agent (EA) license in good standing
3+ years of experience preparing a wide variety of tax returns
Working knowledge of tax law including trusts, estates, and tax-exempt entities
Strong communication skills with client-facing experience
Experience representing clients before the IRS
Preferred
Experience advising business owners, non-profits, and high-net-worth individuals
Familiarity with Financial Cents or other workflow management tools
Ability to simplify complex tax strategies for clients
Experience with tax planning beyond compliance
Performance Expectations
Maintain a high degree of accuracy and file returns on time
Deliver strategic advice during tax meetings
Proactively identify tax-saving opportunities
Maintain accurate documentation and notes in all firm systems
Respond to client inquiries within firm SLA (service level agreement)
Remain current on tax law and complete required continuing education
