About the Role: LaSalle Network is currently seeking a
Cost Accountant for a well-established and growing food manufacturing client. This position plays a key role in tracking and analyzing manufacturing costs, supporting inventory control, and ensuring accurate financial reporting in a fast-paced production environment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost accounting within the food or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry and be comfortable working cross-functionally with operations, procurement, and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities: - Maintain and analyze standard costs for raw materials, packaging, labor, and overhead
- Prepare monthly cost variance reports and work with plant leadership to understand and explain fluctuations
- Monitor inventory transactions and perform periodic physical inventory and cycle counts
- Partner with operations to track production yields, scrap, and waste
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities related to cost of goods sold
- Recommend process improvements to increase cost accuracy and operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate accounting policies
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2-5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment; food manufacturing preferred
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting, standard costing, and variance analysis
- ERP system experience (SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
