This role is critical to ensuring quality control, regulatory compliance, and field coordination for medium-to-large-scale sewer construction projects.
- The Field Inspector will work closely with the Construction Manager, engineering teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies to monitor construction activities, perform field inspections, and document project progress. A strong focus on traffic control coordination and safety compliance will also be required, given the nature of the work in heavily trafficked areas.

- Trenchless Construction Oversight: Inspect and document HDD, bore and jack, and micro-tunneling activities, ensuring adherence to industry standards and approved plans.
- Traffic Control Monitoring: Work with traffic engineers and agencies to ensure compliance with Caltrans and ATSSA traffic control requirements and proper implementation of traffic control measures.
- Regulatory & Compliance Documentation: Maintain detailed field reports, including site conditions, safety measures, contractor compliance, and quality assurance records.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with contractors, utility companies, city/county agencies, and project managers to address field challenges and ensure smooth project execution.
- Issue Identification & Resolution: Identify potential construction issues early and coordinate with project teams to implement corrective actions.
- Construction Safety & Best Practices: Ensure OSHA compliance, safety protocols, and quality assurance measures are strictly followed on-site.
- Project Reporting: Prepare daily progress reports, inspection logs, material testing records, and as-built documentation.
Qualifications & Experience: - Minimum 5 years of experience as a Field Inspector in sewer construction, infrastructure projects, or related fields.
- Experience with medium-to-large-scale sewer construction and trenchless technologies (HDD, bore and jack, micro-tunneling, auger boring, etc.).
- NASTT certification (or willingness to obtain) required.
- Caltrans Quality Control Inspector certification is a plus.
- Strong understanding of traffic control requirements and experience working on projects with significant traffic management challenges.
- TSSA (or equivalent) traffic control certification preferred.
- Familiarity with Caltrans, local city/county agencies, and public works project regulations.
- Experience in construction materials testing, compaction testing, and site safety inspections.
- Proficiency in field reporting software and documentation tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced construction environment.
